A board-off is a kiteboarding trick where you remove the board from your feet during a jump and reattach it before landing. It's a classic old-school freestyle move that looks impressive and feels incredible. The key is hang time — you need enough air to grab, remove, and replace the board.

Board-Off Tips
Use a bigger kite
More kite = more hang time. Don't try to learn board-offs on your smallest kite in strong wind. Pick a day where you can fly a larger kite comfortably.
Master the tail grab first
Before you try a full board-off, make sure you can consistently grab the tail of your board during jumps. The tail grab is the foundation — once it's automatic, the board-off follows naturally.
Practice on land
Stand with your board strapped in and practice flicking it off and on with your wrist. Get the muscle memory down before you're 10 meters in the air.
Commit to the landing
The most common mistake is hesitating when putting the board back on. Slide your feet in and stomp the landing — don't try to be gentle.
